Adopt a Destitute Refugee Program-135 destitute refugee families of widows, elders, single mother, orphans and chronically ill are provided monthly rations along with Rs. 500 for sundry expenses. Ms. Rahima Khatoon born in 1962, she is a Widow Refugee from Myanmar. She came to Hyderabad in June 2012. Her husband was killed in the civil war in Myanmar. She has one daughter who is married. Her daughter is helping her with food. She is working as a rag picker and is earning about Rs. 1000/- per month which is not sufficient for survival.

Profiles of all 135 destitute families are available and can be shared on request.

Education of Refugee Children: COVA has facilitated admission of refugee children in Government schools. COVA also provides financial support for about 40 refugee children to study in private schools as they do not have any government schools in their neighbourhood. Please support a refugee student with a donation of Rs. 10,000 for one year

Livelihoods Support:COVA has provided grants to 200 refugees to start small business ranging from vegetable and fruits vending, general stores, hair dressing saloon, rickshaws for scrap collection and construction tools etc. Your Donation of Rs. 5000 can help a refugee to start or upgrade a business and earn between 400 to 800 per day.

Medical Emergencies:COVA has connected the refugees to local clinics and government dispensaries for minor ailments. But major health issued and surgeries need sums that are beyond the capacity of the refugees to mobilise. There are cancer patients, of kidney failure on dialysis and a child with limb deformity needing correction. On an average about 10 to 12 refugees need medical treatments costing Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 1,00,000.

Any donation for such emergencies will be most helpful.

Distribution of Monthly Rations to Destitute Refugee Families – 1st of Ramazan 2021

1st of Ramazan 2021 sees distribution of ration kits along with Rs. 500 for sundry expenses to 135 destitute Rohingya Refugee Families comprising widows, elders, single mothers, orphans and chronically ill.
This is part of Adopt Destitute Refugee Families Program being undertaken by COVA Peace Network with generous support from donors since 2015.
So far this year COVA has mobilised support for 30 families and need for another 105 families.
Just Rs. 20,000 from your zakat, sadaqua, general donation can help one destitute family to survive with dignity for a year.
Please adopt as many families as possible and share this Appeal with your recommendations with your family and friends.

Our thanks for the Zakat contributions and donations to COVA for the Rohingya refugees in Hyderabad in the past and we sincerely appreciate your concern and generosity for one of the most destitute people on earth today.

Recognising that some families are absolutely destitute and unable to earn to survive, COVA Peace Network started supporting 80 such families from 2015 and the number has now grown to 133 destitute families in March 2021 comprising 62 widows, 28 single mothers, 25 elders, 6 physically handicapped, 3 orphans and 3 unmarried women and  6 chronically ill who cannot earn to survive on their own need support.

Your donation of just Rs. 20,000 from Zakat, Sadaqua, bank interest or general donation can help one destitute refugee family receive ration kits along with Rs. 500 in cash for sundry expenses every month. We appeal to you to adopt as many destitute refugee families as possible and share with your family and friends with recommendation to donate.

Thanks to the generous donations of Rs. 20,000 per family for a year, COVA is able to provide monthly rations kits to such destitute families since 2015 and each kit comprises 15 kg Rice, 4 kg wheat, 2 kg masoor dal, 2 kg sugar, 0.5 kg chilli powder, 1 kg salt and 1 kg refined oil
